Flowers and mulch can
add the finishing
touches to any great
landscape. Outside of
the aesthetic value
there are many
underlying benefits as
well.
Planting flowers in the front of your home or business can give you curb
appeal, plantingflowers in the backyard can help you achieve a much
needed tranquilenvironment. Annuals need to be replaced spring and
fall for yourseasonal color changes. Perennials most times will come
back bythemselves each season. You need to have a combination of
both types.
A new layer of mulch will make a yard look nice and tidy. Mulch is
usually applied on the open dirt areas under bushes, at a rate of 3 to 4”
deep. Mulching your flowerbed is a critical part of the planting process.
Mulch will act as an insulator for the plant roots, keeping them cooler in
the summer and warmer in the winter. Mulch will help your soil retain
moisture, reduce the growth of weeds, help prevent soil erosion, add
nutrients to the soil as it decomposes and oh yeah it looks GREAT!
Mulch needs to be applied at least once a year.
